Following Microsoft’s acquisition of Nokia’s Devices and Services division, another application designed specifically for Lumia devices has received an update and has lost the Nokia branding in its name, none other than Treasure Tag.

The new flavor of the mobile application is already available for download through the Windows Phone Store, and does not appear to feature any other changes beside the aforementioned new name.

Yesterday, Microsoft announced plans to re-purpose some Android-based Nokia X devices to Lumia phones, and a leaked internal memo from the company revealed that it would eventually kill the entire Nokia X series, along with other device families from Nokia, such as Asha and Series 40.

The name change Treasure Tag underwent shows that Microsoft is determined to ditch the Nokia name from its products as soon as possible, something reflected in the new description that the application has in the Windows Phone Store.

“Treasure Tag from Microsoft requires the Lumia Cyan software release and a Treasure Tag accessory (sold separately),” the Redmond-based company notes there.

Other applications that Microsoft has acquired from Nokia as part of the aforementioned purchase deal have been re-branded too, and it might not be long before all of them suffer a similar fate.

In the meantime, those of you who have a Treasure Tag accessory and would like to get the latest flavor of the application on their Lumia Cyan-powered Lumia devices should head over to the official app portal for that.
