The Selfie Arm is just a statement against selfie sticks

Remember the series of images by Russian artist Murad Osmann who documented his travels throughout the world as he was guided by his amazing girlfriend always holding his hand?

Well, if you thought the photos were incredibly romantic and you’d love to recreate such imagery yourself, the logical thing to do would be to turn towards your significant other for that. But what happens when you snap back to reality and actually realize you've been single for quite a while now?

Does that mean you can’t take fancy pictures of someone holding your hand? No way!

Artists Justin Crowe and Aric Snee wanted to give people who were lonely a sense of a different reality where everything is a lot peachier. So they created something called the “Selfie Arm.”

If you wonder what the Selfie Arm is, just imagine a dead-looking, cadaver-colored plastic arm with a smartphone attached to one end one can use to take the photos of their dreams. And fool everybody else that they’re doing great, not lonely at all!

Anyway, luckily, the “Selfie Arm” is not really a product you can purchase somewhere. It’s merely an acid commentary to the “growing selfie sick phenomenon and the constant, gnawing need for narcissistic internet validation.”

Hopefully, seeing the horror that is the “Selfie Arm” might prompt some folks to throw away their selfie sticks immediately.
