The Steam application for handsets running under Google’s Android operating system is now available for download from the Android Market in a beta flavor.

The app provides users with the possibility to get in touch with their Steam friends, while also keeping them up to date with the latest offerings from the gaming community. With this app, Android users can easily “catch unbeatable Steam sales,” the company notes.

At the moment, the software is available in beta in the Android Market for all devices that run under Google’s Android 2.1 and up operating system. The mobile application is available for download for free. Here’s what its description reads:
