Owners of a Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone on the network of wireless carrier Sprint are about to receive a new software update, set to provide them with a brand-new feature, namely Wi-Fi calling.

The wireless carrier has already posted on its support website info on the update, confirming that it will arrive on devices as software version G900PVPU1ANE5, and that it will sport the aforementioned Wi-Fi Calling capabilities.

Info on the update has been posted at the wireless operator today, yet no specific info on when users will start receiving it has been provided. However, chances are that the deployment will kick off very soon, maybe as soon as today, at least this is what Android Police suggests.

As Sprint notes, the new firmware version will be pushed out it stages, which means that some users might have to wait for several days before receiving it.

The update will roll out to users over the air, and they will receive a notification on the matter as soon as the firmware reaches their handsets.

However, they will also be able to manually check on the availability of the update by going to Settings > About Phone > Software updates and clicking on the Check now button.
