It looks like Sprint is true to its promise and will remove the Carrier IQ software from all smartphones available in its portfolio.

Two smartphones have just received minor updates that are meant to remove the infamous software, HTC EVO Shift 4G and Samsung Replenish

The updates are deployed OTA (over the air) in stages with 100% of devices recieving the update within 10 days.

Aside from the security update that will remove Carrier IQ from both smartphones, HTC EVO Shift 4G will also receive an updated Peep client (to align with Twitter), as well as battery life improvements.

According to Sprint, customers can manually initiate the update beginning today, or they can wait until they are automatically notified. However, the carrier will start sending notifications to HTC EVO Shift 4G starting February 7.
