Spotify, the Android application with millions of downloads in Google Play store, is about to receive a major update.

It appears that the application has been completely redesigned and that it now comes with full support for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

The overall performance of Spotify has been improved as well, and there are more social features included, allowing users to check out friends’ profile pages and playlists. Artist imagery is now available in higher resolution and there’s a new artist view.

Although these are the changes currently added to the application with the latest update, the developers plan to bring more features, such as add folders and Last FM scrobbling, before it goes live in Google Play.

For the time being, the preview version of Spotify is available as a free download via Softpedia, but it should hit Google Play store in the following days as well.
