Japanese carrier KDDI has just kicked off the rollout of the upgrade

Japanese carrier KDDI has just announced that it has started to push the long-awaited Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for Sony Xperia UL (SOL22).

According to XperiaBlog, this is one of the last high-end Xperia smartphones that receives the update in Japan, as many of Sony's devices have already gotten the upgrade in the not so distant past.

Sony Xperia UL users will be happy to know that they will be able to take advantage of new features and services thanks to the new platform.

The latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update brings lots of new features, including Small apps, DualShock 3 controller support, Video Unlimited, as well as various camera UI improvements.

Sony has already announced which devices will receive Android 4.4 KitKat update in the coming weeks, but the handset maker has yet to offer the Jelly Bean upgrade for some of its premium models.
