Unveiled back in February at the MWC 2012, Sony Xperia P has just been launched at Three UK. The carrier is expected to start selling the smartphone beginning July 17.

According to SoMobile, Xperia P will be available for free on contract from £27 per month on the Ultimate Internet 500 plan. In addition, customers who do not want to commit to a long-term contract can purchase the smartphone for 290 GBP (450 USD or 370 EUR) on PAYG (pay as you go).

The Xperia P is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, but Sony Mobile confirmed the smartphone would receive an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade by the end of the year.

Hardware-wise, the device is equipped with a NovaThor U8500 chipset, which packs a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor and a Mali-400MP GPU.
