Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile is getting closer to the launch of a new series of Xperia devices this year, and one of them has made an appearance in the GFXBench database.

The mobile phone was seen there with a 720p HD touchscreen display, while being powered by a 1.4 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 MSM8226 processor with Adreno 305 GPU, as XperiaGuide notes.

Furthermore, the listing unveiled the fact that this device was running under the Android 4.4.1 KitKat operating system, yet no other details on the smartphone are known for the time being.

By the looks of it, we can assume that Sony is gearing up for the launch of a powerful mid-level handset in the not too distant future.

The competition in the entry- and mid-range segments of the smartphone market has increased in the past few years, and Sony appears determined to grab a chunk of it as well.
