Last week Sony inadvertently revealed that it had no intentions of upgrading any of the 2011 smartphones to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system.

More precisely, John Cooper, UK product manager for Sony Mobile, confirmed to a Sony fan that Xperia arc S would not receive an official Jelly Bean update in the future. In addition, Cooper stated that Xperia mini pro wouldn’t be getting the upgrade either.

However, it looks like Sony Mobile has just come forward with an official statement claiming Cooper gave information out in error on its Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update schedule for 2011 Xperia smartphones.

Even though the company did not unveil any details regarding the release of any Jelly Bean updates for older Xperia models, it did confirm it was “actively investigating Android OS upgrades for all devices.” Stay tuned for more info on the matter.
