Samsung might finally be ready to start releasing smartphones with fingerprint sensors packed inside, and it should make them available as soon as the next year, a recent report from Reuters unveils.

Apparently, Fingerprint Cards CEO Johan Carlstrom has already confirmed that Samsung is indeed planning a handset with the feature included in 2014, though no official announcement on the matter has been made as of now.

As SamMobile notes, previous reports on the matter suggested that Samsung wasn’t working on fingerprint technology for its devices, but that it was instead considering the inclusion of eye-scanning capabilities inside them.

One way or the other, it appears that Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4 devices could sport some more user identification capabilities than this year’s devices. What remains to be seen is which of the aforementioned technologies will be included.
