Earlier last month, we told you that a few images showcasing Samsung’s upcoming next-gen Tizen OS smartphone, the Z2, leaked online.

But a new report coming out of Tizen Experts seems to indicate that Samsung won’t be launching a Z2 smartphone, but will jump directly to Z3.

According to the information, the phone will be ready for prime time in the early part of the second half of 2015.

Samsung is planning to make the Z3 more powerful than its predecessor, so if we listen to this tidbit, the company will put a quad-core 64-bit processor underneath the hood of the budget device.

The phone will have a larger, more spacious 5-inch display and will take advantage of a 5MP/2MP camera setup. Last but not least, the device will be kept alive by a 2,000 mAh battery.

By comparison, the Z1 arrived with a 4-inch display with 400 x 480 pixel resolution and a dual-core CPU clocked at 1.2GHz and working side by side with 768MB or RAM and 4GB of internal storage.

Samsung’s Z1 smartphone didn't manage to become a major hit, but Samsung still has faith that its Tizen mobile operating system will go on to become a major market holder.
