The first Samsung smartphones to receive the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade in Q1 2012 are the Galaxy Note and Galaxy S II. However, the Korean handset manufacturer plans to update more devices to the latest Android 4.0 operating system during 2012.

 

The company confirmed that Galaxy S II LTE, Galaxy R, Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy Tab 8.9, Galaxy Tab 7.7 and Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus would be getting the upgrade in the following months.

 

Today, Samsung India came forward and reassured Android fans that the Galaxy R, which is a popular smartphone in India, will soon get the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade.

 

A Samsung India official tweeted the following message: “Galaxy R will get ICS upgrade but we do not have the exact information on the dates. Will update you once we have that information available.”
