Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion is in a difficult position at the moment, struggling with falling market share and increased competitiveness on the smartphone segment.

One of the options that the handset vendor might choose to go for in order to regain its foothold would be licensing the upcoming BlackBerry 10 platform, a possibility that the company’s CEO already confirmed to have been discussed.

Soon after, rumors on a possible takeover from Samsung also emerged, but it seems that all were false, at least this is what the company’s spokesperson told Smarthouse.

“Samsung Electronics has not considered the acquisition of Research in Motion or licensing BB 10,” said official reportedly commented.

RIM’s shares started to rise after the rumor emerged, but they are expected to fall again as the supposed takeover is denied.
