Do you remember the huge #bendgate scandal of last year that centered around the iPhone 6 Plus? Well, the folks who were responsible for performing the initial tests on the Apple flagship have returned.

This time, Square Trade decided to include the brand new Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and HTC One M9 phones into the equation.

The devices were tested twice, initially until a visible bending point was attained and then until they broke altogether.

The Apple iPhone 6 Plus was put under 110 lbs / 49 kg to get deformed, while at 179 lbs / 81 kg, it broke.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge also bent at 110 lbs / 49 kg and one of the curved displays cracked. Albeit being protected by Gorilla Glass, the unusual shape makes it susceptible to cracking. 149 lbs / 67 kg had to be applied for the gadget to completely break.

Last but not least, the HTC One M9 bent at 120 lbs / 54 kg. Since the power button was moved from top to the center right, the phone bent there and could not be powered after that.

To perform these tests, the company used what is referred to as “BendBots,” which are robots capable of detecting how much pressure can be put on a phone before it bends and breaks.
