South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics is gearing up for the launch of its Galaxy S5 smartphone in India this week, and some info on the price tag this flagship might feature in the country is now available.

Apparently, the phone might be released at Rs. 51,500 ($857/€621) in the country, which will make it one of the most expensive handsets out there, as AndroidOS notes.

The pricing info comes from Mumbai-based retailer Mahesh Telecom, but won’t be confirmed until tomorrow, when Samsung officially launches the high-end device in India, during an event in New Delhi.

Considering the fact that Galaxy S5 does come with a host of high-end hardware specs and capabilities packed inside, it would not come as a surprise if Samsung actually priced it that high.

Apparently, the mobile phone could become available for pre-order in the country as soon as March 28, while expected to arrive on shelves on April 11, when it goes up for sale in other markets around the world too.

Galaxy S5 was unveiled last month with a 5.1-inch full HD screen, a 2.5GHz quad-core processor inside, 2GB of RAM, and a 16-megapixel camera on the back, with 4K video recording. It also runs under the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system.
