Samsung launched the Galaxy S5 in India last month for Rs 54,300 ($930 / €675) outright, but the flagship smartphone’s price tag was quickly cut to Rs 51,500 ($880 / €640).

The company’s officials have reported that the smartphone’s sales were much stronger than those of the previous Galaxy S model, but it looks like Samsung wants to boost the Galaxy S5’s sales even more in India.

Given the rather high price for an emerging market, the Galaxy S5 doesn’t seem to sell all that well in India, which is why some retailers have already cut the smartphone’s price tag to the point that it really makes a great deal.

SammyHub reports that at least two major Indian retailers now offer the Galaxy S5 for less than Rs 40,000 ($685 / €500). For example, the Shimmery White Galaxy S5 is now available at Snapdeal for only Rs 39,648 ($675 / €495), while Amazon India offers the Charcoal Black version for Rs 39,000 ($685 / €500).

Keep in mind though that this is the Exynos-based model, which is equipped with an octa-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. The smartphone does not come with LTE support, but offers users HSPA+ (42Mbps) download data speeds.
