There have been rumors that Samsung plans to launch a Galaxy S5 Developer Edition in the United States for quite some time. Well, it looks like these rumors were accurate, as Samsung has just started selling the Galaxy S5 Developer Edition for Verizon Wireless.

Verizon Wireless customers can now purchase the Galaxy S5 Developer Edition via Samsung's online store for the same price as the standard version, $600 (€430) off contract.

Apart from the fact that it features an unlocked bootloader, there doesn't seem to be any other differences between the Developer Edition and standard mode, hence the price tag that is similar.

However, those interested in acquiring the Samsung Galaxy S5 Developer Edition should know that the smartphone is only available in Charcoal Black, Phandroid reports.

It is also worth mentioning that Samsung only sells the 16GB version of Galaxy S5 Developer Edition, but given the fact that it comes with microSD card slot (up to 128GB), it should not matter.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Developer Edition is the perfect tool for those who wish to tinker with their phone's software by flashing new ROMs.

Removing the original ROM may be the first thing that a developer will do in order to get rid of all the bloatware included by Verizon. Do you plan on getting a Galaxy S5 Developer Edition?
