Hopefully the Galaxy S6 Edge will be luckier

Samsung is getting ready to launch the Galaxy S6 flagship at MWC 2015 in March, alongside a dual-edged variant dubbed the Galaxy S6 Edge.

The first handset with a curved display to come out of Sammy was the Galaxy Note Edge, which saw the light of day at IFA 2014.

The Korean tech giant must have been pretty encouraged by the sales of the original models since it decided to go even further with the Edge variant of the Galaxy S6.

Well, as it turns out that’s not exactly the case. According to the DT publication (via Sam Mobile), since September Samsung has managed to ship 630,000 Galaxy Note Edge units throughout the world.

It might sound like a big number, but when you put things into perspective, it is actually not. For example, Samsung sod 4.5 million units of its premium phablet, the Galaxy Note 4 just in the first month after launch.

Even Samsung’s ill-fated Tizen-OS smartphone, the Z1 sold 50,000 units in the first 10 days. So as you can see, customers seem to be staying clear of the Galaxy Note Edge.

But considering the Note Edge was actually an experiment, the numbers aren't awful either. And with the original model paving the way, the Galaxy S6 Edge has a lot more chances of becoming a consumer hit.

If it doesn't sell for a huge price tag, that is, although it's not very likely at this point.

Yesterday we told you that prices for the Galaxy S6 Edge will apparently start at €849 / €963 in Europe, which is pretty steep.
