The smartphone should be out on the market by the end of the year

Reports that LG and Samsung plan to launch innovative smartphones featuring flexible displays emerged a long time ago, but no exact release date leaked yet.

However, according to the latest hearsay, this is the year that both handset makers will finally launch the long rumored flexible handsets. Unfortunately, it’s unclear if Samsung and LG will really launch handsets that pack flexible or curved display.

To make things even more intriguing, the first rumors on Samsung’s flexible device have just started to surface. According to AndroidSaS, the handset will sport a 4.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720 x 1280 pixels) resolution.

On the inside, the said smartphone will be equipped with a quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM. An 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with dual-LED flash will be included as well, along with Android 4.3 platform.

No word on the name of the device, but sources close to the matter claim the phone will use the same “Galaxy” branding. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
