There have been many reports claiming that Samsung might launch the first Tizen-powered device in Q1 2014. Japanese carrier NTT Docomo has confirmed at some point that it would launch such a handset in February.

However, the carrier backtracked several weeks later and said that it would not launch the promised Tizen smartphone claiming that the platform was not yet ready for the current climate in Japan.

Today, TizenExperts reports that a Samsung official in South Korea has confirmed that the Tizen device that should have beeen launched in the first half of 2014 has been delayed once again:

“It is true that the release has been delayed. Previously we did had planned to release in the first half of this year in several countries, including Korea and Russia.”

However, that doesn’t mean that we won’t see any Tizen-powered smartphone in action in the next couple of weeks, as Samsung has already announced that it will demo the ZTE Geek, its first smartphone to run the said platform.
