OnePlus has hefty plans for the upcoming year

In mid-February, OnePlus is planning to officially introduce its own custom ROM that’s to be called Oxygen OS.

On top of that, the “flagship killer” maker is said to be prepping the successor of their successful OnePlus One smartphone, which the rumor mill has dubbed the OnePlus 2.

But the company is also looking to branch out and extend its business outside the confines of China. The company’s CEO Carl Pei shared an update on his Google+ account to announce the world on their intention of building an R&D center in Europe in the second half of 2015.

Interestingly enough, the post is linked to a recent article according to which Sony is planning to let-go up to 1,000 employees from their mobile division.

So it seems that OnePlus CEO is actually inviting users to apply for a job at the new OnePlus R&D center in Europe.

The current OnePlus One doesn't seem to lack popularity on the international market. After all, the handset ships everywhere and has seen encouraging sales worldwide, but the Chinese company probably believes it will be able to improve the Western’s market pulse by establishing a presence in Europe.

We still have some way to go before we are able to see something come out of the OnePlus R&D Center. The OnePlus 2 we talked about a few paragraphs back is scheduled to arrive in Q3, so around the time the new facility opens its gates. Maybe the next-gen OnePlus 2 will bear a touch of European R&D.
