The firmware comes bearing TouchWiz goodies

Samsung handset owners are pretty impatient about getting the Android 5.0 Lollipop update and the Korean company has been quite slow (compared to other device makers) in pushing the new build.

Lollipop is currently going out to the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S4 in some select regions. And the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge, which were unveiled together are probably up next to receive the new build.

It already seems like the official beta build for Lollipop for the Galaxy Note Edge has already leaked online and has been picked up by one of the members of the notorious xda-developers forum.

The stock TouchWiz-enhanced firmware has been dated to January 29 and has appeared under the XXU1BOA2 build name, being based on Android 5.0.1 Lollipop version.

Since this is the official firmware, installing it on your device won’t trip Knox, so you won’t get your warranty erased. However, keep in mind that this is a beta build so it’s bound to be riddled with a few bugs.

The most important issue seems to be (it has been highlighted in the main post) that you might find yourself in the position where you’ll have to manually set the Snapdragon’s 805 frequency to 300MHz, after one flashes the build via a third-party app.

Even so, if you feel like you can’t wait until Lollipop comes as an OTA update to your Note Edge, you can go ahead and experiment with the official firmware.
