Nokia has silently released a new update for the old X6 smartphone, which is based on the Symbian 5th Edition platform.

This is the second update delivered by Nokia today, after the N9 got the highly-anticipated PR1.1 major upgrade earlier.

According to Nokia, software version 40.x.002 is rolled out in waves and availability depends on operator approvals.

Obviously, users can manually check for the new software in case they don't receive an update notification.

Assuming your Nokia X6 is on firmware version 32.0.002, you will be able to install the new update, which is approximately 8.5 Mb.

It looks like the latest software update brings several improvements, as well as the following enhancements: new Browser v7.3.1.33 and new Nokia Maps v3.06, support for IDNs and non-ASCII letters (i.e. Arabic, Chinese).
