The Russian smartphone market is among the most expensive, which is why we did not expect Nokia to slash the Lumia 1520’s price so heavily so soon. The phablet was launched in the Motherland back in November 2013 for no less than 29,990 rubles (€630 / $860) outright.

However, GSMArena reports that the smartphone is now up for grabs for just 24,990 rubles, which is about €525 or $715; that’s no less than €100 ($145) cheaper than the initial price.

Perhaps the new discount will boost Nokia Lumia 1520 sales in the country, though Russian customers seem to prefer Android over Windows Phone.

Keep in mind that the current discount is only available in Russia, where Nokia Lumia 1520 was a bit over priced anyway. There is no info on whether or not Nokia will slash the phablet’s price in other countries as well.
