Nokia officially introduced the affordable Asha 500 handset in India about a week ago and confirmed it will be available for purchase beginning this month for Rs 4,499 ($73 / €53) outright.

Today, major retailer Infibeam announced it's now offering the Asha 500 for Rs 4,649 ($75 / €55) off contract. This is slightly higher than Nokia's suggested retail price, but the handset might go cheaper in the coming days.

Until then, those who want a cheap dual-SIM handset can give Asha 500 a try. The phone comes with a decent 2.8-inch QVGA display that supports 240 x 320 pixels resolution and sports a 2-megapixel rear-facing camera.

It runs Nokia Asha platform and packs 64MB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

For the time being, the Asha 500 is only available in black and white colors, but additional options will be released in the coming days, including cyan, green, red and yellow.
