LG Electronics has finally unveiled that it has seen stronger-than-expected demand for the Nexus 5 smartphone, thus explaining why the phone is running out of stock in various markets worldwide.

Kim Byung-hyung, president and chief executive of LG's Taiwan branch, confirmed the global shortage for the device yesterday, when the phone was officially launched in the country, focustaiwan reports.

No info on when supplies will be replenished has been provided as of now, but the company is certainly working on ramping up production to ensure that there will be no more delays.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the 16GB Black Nexus 5 is currently listed as out of stock in the US, and that the other models are facing delays of several weeks. Unfortunately, LG and Google have yet to unveil the amount of Nexus 5 units sold so far.
