Until Motorola comes out with the second generation of XOOM tablets, Android fans can get the “Family Edition” version, which has just been spotted in retail stores.

According to the guys over at Engadget, the “Family Edition” XOOM showed up at an unnamed big box electronics store.

Apart from its new branding, the tablet comes pre-loaded with a $40 worth of software for kids developed by Zoodles.

With the new software users can switch their XOOM tablets in Kid Mode meant to protect the device and contain kids in a safe environment.

The software includes games, videos, Zoodles Art Studios where they can make drawings, storybooks, and video mail that allows children to exchange messages with their families.

It also provides parents with the option to customize Kid Mode by adding or removing apps that improve various skills, such as math, reading and social.
