Last year, Motorola confirmed that its budget-friendly Moto G smartphone would be available in Australia beginning January 2014. However, the US-based handset maker did not offer an exact release date for the device.

Well, it looks like the first carrier to offer the Moto G in Australia is Telechoice, AusDroid reports. Telechoice is an MVNO operator that uses Telstra’s 3G network and offers decent plans and devices.

According to Telechoice, Motorola Moto G will arrive on January 13 and will be available for purchase for no less than $280 (€185) outright, which is quite expensive if we take into consideration the $180 (€130) off contract price suggested by Motorola.

In fact, the smartphone is even cheaper in the United States where Verizon offers the Moto G for only $100 (€75) on prepaid and Boost Mobile sells it for slightly more, at $130 (€95) outright.

Potential customers who do not wish to pay the full amount for the Moto G can grab it for free on Telechoice’s $40 (€25) monthly plan.
