The new test program will be available for those who wish to test much earlier builds

It looks like Motorola plans to release much earlier builds of Android updates for some of its smartphones. The US-based handset maker already has a testing program in place with which it pushes updates to a limited number of users before releasing them to the general public.

These are called “soak tests” and are versions that are almost ready to be launched as stable, but need just one more test from users. However, beginning this month, Motorola will kick off another test drive program that will offer a limited number of users much earlier builds of Android.

According to AndroidPolice, one of the first smartphones that will soon be the target of such an early Android 4.4.2 KitKat build is Motorola DROID RAZR M.

Only those Motorola users who provided useful feedback in the past will be selected to receive these early KitKat builds, so unless you have received an invitation via email, you will continue to be part of the more common “soak tests.”

There are no details on Motorola’s Android 4.4.2 KitKat update roadmap, so we can’t be sure which device will receive the upgrade first apart from the recent tip on DROID RAZR M.

Still, we can safely assume that we will get more info on this as soon as Motorola releases a new KitKat build for one of its smartphones.
