Redmond-based software giant Microsoft is reportedly gearing up for the launch of the recently unveiled Nokia Lumia 630 and Lumia 930 Windows Phone 8.1 handsets in Brazil later this month, and it will be hosting a press event on May 15 for that.

Said event will take place in São Paulo, and WindowsPhonebrasil.com.br believes that the two devices will go official in the country on that day.

This would be the very first launch event that the company schedules after completing the purchase of Nokia’s Devices & Services division, as WMPoweruser notes.

Moreover, the news site notes that Lumia 630, the cheapest of the two, is seen as the successor of Nokia Lumia 520, which is currently the most popular Windows Phone device out there, and that a great deal of wireless carriers around the world are already interested in adding it to their offerings.

What remains to be seen, however, is whether Microsoft will indeed announce the said two smartphones in Brazil on May 15, and what other similar launch events will be scheduled to move forth.

Now that Nokia’s Devices & Services business is part of Microsoft, the company will certainly start working towards expanding the availability of Lumia devices around the world as well as increasing awareness on them.
