The platform will have more to offer when it comes to navigation

One of the aspects that Microsoft seems set to enhance in Windows Phone is the navigation experience that users receive from their handsets.

The company has just hired a new software engineer that would work on this, but the job post listing that WMPoweruser stumbled upon unveiled its intentions:

We are looking for a strong and experienced SDET to help build and test the next generation Maps experience on Windows Phone. As a member of the team you will be instrumental in building the best experience on any phone for discovering and getting to places in the real world.

Microsoft expects for Windows Phone to grow significantly in the near future and says that a great Maps experience will prove helpful in this direction. However, it remains to be seen how exactly Microsoft’s plans will materialize, so stay tuned.
