Good news for Windows Phone 8.1 early adopters who decided they want to get a taste of the new features Microsoft will launch for the general public in the coming weeks.

It appears that there's a new update for Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview available for download, so those who have it installed may want to check for it by going to Settings / Phone update / Check for up.

However, keep in mind that the update does not bring any new features or improvements, instead it adds some APIs tweaking, WPCentral reports.

The new software update 8.10.12397.895 has already been pushed live so Windows Phone 8.1 users should be able to grab it in the next couple of hours.

According to the official changelog, the update “enables some newly commercialized devices and tweaks a couple of APIs.”

This would be the third update Microsoft releases for Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview and there's a chance it won't be the last until the final version get released for the masses.

The previous update was slightly larger and brought in some improvements and tweaking as well, but no major features were included either. Have you captured the third update yet? Did you notice any new features that we might have missed? Tell us in the comments section.
