Joe Belfiore claims that Office apps only come with some bug fixes

Windows Phone fans should expect lots of new features and improvements to be included in the next major update for Microsoft's mobile operating system.

In fact, so much functionality and there are so many new features and enhancements added to Windows Phone 8.1 that this can easily go as an entirely new operating system.

However, while the platform and some of Microsoft's apps and services will be upgraded with new features and tweaks, the Office suite will remain unchanged.

At least that's what Microsoft's Joe Belfiore claims. According to him, Windows Phone 8.1 Office suite will not be getting any new major features or improvements.

Instead, he has confirmed that all Office applications included in Windows Phone 8.1 will receive some bug fixes, which will probably be detailed later on.

Belfiore's confirmation might be disappointing for Windows Phone fans who were relying on Office's features, which aren't that great when it comes to creating and editing documents. Still, we think there's still time for Microsoft to add improvements and new features to its Office suite in Windows Phone 8.1.

Speaking of which, Windows Phone 8.1 is expected to be pushed for the general public sometime this summer. Beginning early next week (April 14/15), some users will be able to download and install the Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview on their compatible devices.
