Indian mobile phone maker Micromax is reportedly gearing up for the release of a new entry-level Android-based smartphone before the end of this week, namely the Micromax Unite Anthem A290.

The new handset is reportedly set to become official on August 15, and has already made an appearance on the import/export website Zauba.

The listing confirms that fact that Unite Anthem A290 units have already arrived in India, while also revealing some of the hardware specifications that this device will sport when made official.

As gogi.in notes, the new smartphone will pack a 4.7-inch touchscreen display of unknown resolution, as well as a 1.4GHz octa-core processor.

Moreover, the handset is expected to feature 1GB of RAM, as well as 8GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes.

Additionally, the phone should feature an 8-megapixel camera with auto focus on the back, along with a 5MP front camera.

According to info that emerged last month, this device will be launched as a budget octa-core handset, which suggests that it could be priced under Rs. 11,000 ($180/€134).

No official details on the Micromax Unite Anthem A290 have been provided as of now, and it remains to be seen whether the above will pan out. Stay tuned for more on this.
