Micromax already claims around 20% of the Indian smartphone market share, but all of its devices are powered by Google’s Android platform.

Seeing the astounding success of Nokia’s Windows Phone handset, the Indian OEM plans to launch a similar smartphone of its own.

Rumors on the upcoming Windows Phone handset soon to be released by Micromax surfaced last summer, though not many details were leaked.

In fact, rumors were only claiming that Micromax was working on a Windows Phone. Today, MMXNewscaster teases an upcoming announcement coming from Micromax that might involve its first Windows Phone handset.

If Micromax announces its own Windows Phone device, we expect that it will be aimed at the entry-level market, so the price should be in the same range as Nokia Lumia 525. Unfortunately, for the time being, no additional info is available, but stay tuned for more details.
