Lenovo will follow in the steps of Xiaomi

A while back Lenovo company officials disclosed they have plans of launching a new smartphone brand that will follow the same model as Xiaomi and OnePlus – it will be only online based.

The new subsidiary will be launching on the first of April 2015, but except from that we didn't know much about it.

A report coming from My Drivers is now shedding a bit of light on the matter. Apparently, the new line will be called the “Fancy Maker.”

Apart from sounding a bit off, the Fancy Maker brings about a clear Moto Maker reference. But that’s to be expected, since Motorola is now part of the ever-expanding Lenovo group.

The Moto Maker is a personalization service that allows smartphone buyers to customize their Moto handset in terms of coloring options and back plates.

So the Fancy Maker might be something similar, although it makes me think of something more deluxe.

Anyway, it remains to see whether Lenovo will be successful in copying Xiaomi’s business model and applying it the right way to its own products.

I’m also pretty curios to see what kind of specs the first Fancy Maker smartphone will bundle and whether Lenovo will sell them with different price tags or not.
