They are also expected to include fingerprint scanners inside the phones

Next year’s smartphones might get a bit tougher than what we’re currently used to, especially if LG and HTC will include sapphire inside their own flagships.

New rumors on the matter suggest that the two companies plan on using sapphire on the home buttons of their HTC One 2 and LG G3 smartphones, yet no official confirmation on the matter has been provided as of now.

Sapphire, one of the toughest scratch-proof materials out there, is already being used in some mobile phones, including Apple’s iPhone 5s, but it seems that more of them might get a taste of it.

Said flagship handsets from HTC and LG are also expected to feature a Touch ID fingerprint scanner, most probably placed on the homescreen button, which would explain the use of sapphire.

However, no official confirmation on this has been provided as of now, so we’ll take the info with a grain of salt.
