TELUS LG Optimus Black has finally received the promised Android 2.3 update, though the smartphone was launched at Koodo Mobile with Gingerbread on board.

It took LG no less than 10 months to bring the Optimus Black to Gingerbread, but the South Korean company already promised another Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade for Optimus Black will be available in Q2 2012.

We doubt that TELUS LG Optimus Black will get the update on schedule but we can always hope that the handset maker plans to redeem itself for the late delivery of previous updates.

Those who wish to upgrade their Optimus Black smartphones purchased via TELUS can do so via LG PC Suite software.

Among the changes added by Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread it worths mentioning the ability to make phone calls over the Internet with VOIP while connected to a Wi-Fi network, as well as improved power management for better battery life and device performance.
