Kik Messenger, one of the most popular chatting applications available on Android devices, has received a major update this week, and it is now available for download as version 7.0.0.

One of the main enhancements included in the new software version is a built-in web browser, which will provide users with the possibility to navigate the web and share pages at ease, all straight from within the application.

Android users will see a URL bar in the side tray, which replaces Kik’s Cards platform, as TNW notes. On top of that, Kik also announced the availability of a series of APIs that will enable the optimization of websites and Web apps for its messenger.

Through these APIs, features such as push notifications, sharing via Kik, photos, and more will be available to users. There is also a search API that allows websites to become discoverable when the side tray is opened and a URL is being typed in. Users will also be served suggestions.

You can download Kik Messenger 7.0.0 for Android from Softpedia today.
