Owners of Windows Phone 8 devices can now download and install a new flavor of the Instagram BETA application, namely version 0.4.0.0.

The main enhancement included in the new app iteration is support for the lock screen, a feature that has been long asked for.

Following the update to Instagram BETA 0.4.0.0, Windows Phone 8 users will be able to personalize their phone’s lock screen with photos from the application.

Moreover, they can set the software to populate said screen either with photos from their feed or with images from their home feed (which will display photos from all people that users are following on Instagram, as WPCentral explains).

Those who download the new application version will have to head over to the settings menu to enable the lock screen support.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Instagram BETA for Windows Phone 8 (now listed as compatible with Windows Phone 8.1 as well) was made available back in November as the official client for the popular photo sharing service.

The software packs various filters that users can apply to customize their photos, while also offering easy sharing capabilities. On top of that, it allows users to keep an eye on new images from their friends on Instagram.

You can download Instagram BETA 0.4.0.0 for Windows Phone 8 from Softpedia today.
