Chinese handset maker Huawei has just confirmed that its Ideos X5 smartphone will finally get the Android 2.3 Gingerbread upgrade by the end of November.

According to the folks over at Eurodroid, Huawei said: “We can confirm that the IDEOS X5 upgrade to Android 2.3 will be available by the end of November.”

There are no other details regarding the availability of the update, but it's worth mentioning that this will be the second Huawei smartphone that receives the Gingerbread upgrade, after the company rolled out the same update for the U8800+.

Huawei is focusing its production on low- and mid-budget Android smartphones, so it's highly unlikely to push the latest Ice Cream Sandwich operating system to any of its products.

However, it's nice that the company is trying to bring some of its older smartphones to Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
