Chinese handset maker Huawei and Optus have teamed up once again to bring customers an affordable Android alternative, the Ascend Y201.

AusDroid reports the cheap smartphone is now available on Optus Pre-Paid for only $80 (€55), which seems quite the right price for what it has to offer.

In this regard, Huawei Ascend Y201 is powered by Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread operating system out of the box, which is one of its major downsides.

It also sports a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display, a 2-megapixel rear-facing camera, as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G connectivity.

Last but not least, the Ascend Y201 is equipped with a 1 GHz single-core Qualcomm MSM7225A Snapdragon processor, an Adreno 200 graphics processing unit, 256MB of RAM and 512MB of internal memory.

Keep in mind that while the smartphone appears to be “out of stock” on Optus' online store, you can grab the Ascend Y201 from any of the carrier's brick and mortar stores or via other authorized retailers, including Coles, Kmart and Target.
