Chinese mobile phone maker Huawei has been long rumored to plan the launch of a new Windows Phone 8-based device in the Ascend series, namely the Ascend W2, but no official confirmation on the handset has emerged until now.

However, it seems that the smartphone might be announced sooner rather than later, as it has already been included in a video ad from China Mobile, the largest wireless carrier in the country.

The device in the ad – which is not dedicated entirely to this smartphone – resembles the one spotted in previously leaked photos allegedly depicting the Ascend W2, which suggests that they might be one and the same handset, as WPCentral notes.

The phone should become official soon with a 1.5GHz processor inside, a 4.3-inch 1280 x 720-pixel touchscreen, and an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back.
