The handset is now available for purchase for just €29 ($40) off contract

The cheapest feature phone to offer data connectivity, Nokia 220 has just been introduced by the Finnish company during its press conference at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014.

The handset will soon be available for purchase for just €29 ($40) outright. According to Nokia, the 220 will hit shelves this week in various countries in Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa.

Nokia 220 comes preloaded with several social apps, including Facebook and Twitter, as well as Nokia Xpress browser. The phone sports a small 2.4-inch standard display with 240 x 320 pixels resolution and 262k colors.

Other highlights of the feature phone include microSD (up to 32GB), FM Radio, GPRS and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity, 2-megapixel rear-facing camera and 1100 mAh battery that should provide up to 696 hours of standby time or up to 15 hours of talk time.
