In 2012, Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation might launch smartphones that have been PlayStation-certified, recent reports on the matter suggest.

Apparently, HTC Corporation is planning to make an official announcement on this as soon as the Mobile World Congress kicks off in Barcelona later this month.

A recent article on Pocket-lint also notes that HTC is the first vendor outside Sony that will have smartphones featuring PlayStation certification.

If these reports pan out, we might see other manufacturers launching PlayStation–certified devices as well, and that in the near future.

Moreover, this also means that there will be more games available for their users, the same way they are for Sony’s Xperia handsets at the moment.

Sony was already expected to expand the PlayStation certification program to devices from other companies, but no specific info on which companies will come up with such devices has emerged until now.
