Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation has had some rough times lately, but it seems that the company is planning a comeback, and that it might partner with MediaTek for the move.

According to Chinese industry analysts Pan Jiutang, the handset vendor might plan the launch of smartphones that will feature 8-core processors from the chip maker.

No official confirmation on the matter has been provided as of now, but it might not come as a surprise if HTC indeed went for these processors for some of its new smartphones.

As GizChina notes, HTC is usually packing its phones with Qualcomm processors, at least when it comes to the high- and mid-level devices.

The company might decide to go for MediaTek’s MT6592 and MT6592M chips for upcoming entry- and mid-level handsets, though it remains to be seen when exactly that will happen.
