The root is based on the same exploit used for the ICS-based Transformer Prime

HTC EVO 4G LTE, the latest 4G-enabled Android handset on Sprint’s network, has been already rooted.

The method is the same that enabled the owners of an Ice Cream Sandwich-powered Transformer Prime to root their devices, and it can be performed on computers running Windows, Linux, or Mac OS X.

Basically, all that users would have to do to gain root access to their handsets is to install a set of drivers and then run a simple script.

All the necessary details can be found on this post on Android Central. You can also learn more on how to root the HTC EVO 4G LTE via a Windows PC in the video embedded above.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Sprint has already started to ship EVO 4G LTE units to its users, after delaying it due to some issues with the customs.
