The phone sports a 4.3-inch WVGA display, a dual-core processor

HTC Desire 501, the mid- to low-end smartphone that HTC made official a few weeks ago, will become available for purchase in India in a matter of days, with a price tag of Rs. 16,890 ($276/€201) attached to it.

The handset was officially confirmed for this market today, alongside two other new Desire handsets from HTC, namely the Desire 700 and Desire 601.

The new mobile phone hits shelves with a 4.3-inch WVGA display, while being powered by a 1.15GHz ST-Ericsson U8520 dual-core processor, paired with 1GB of RAM.

Furthermore, it features 8GB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC capabilities, as AndroidOS notes.

Desire 501 is powered by a 2100 mAh battery and features an 8-megapixel camera on the back and a 2.1MP front camera for making video calls. The new device runs under the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system and packs dual-SIM functionality.
