The company claims it did not contact Asustek

It looks like HTC is a little bit upset because of the latest rumors claiming that the company is open for acquisition.

For those of you who don't remember, a new report emerged last week that Asus might be considering buying HTC.

The company's chairman Johnny Shih spoke about the possibility of acquiring HTC during Asus' annual general meeting.

“Our chairman has chatted about the topic internally. Still, the chances of an actual takeover are not big as Asustek is a company that has depended on organic growth,” said Chief Financial Officer David Chang.

Obviously, this doesn't mean that Asus had already contacted HTC reps for talks regarding a possible acquisition. And this is now confirmed by HTC, as the company responded to the allegations with the following statement:

“We strongly deny the news. We didn’t contact Asusteck and will not consider the acquisition. As an international brand, HTC will continue to design world-class innovative smart devices through its pursuit of brilliance brand promise.”

So, it looks like HTC will continue to launch smartphones in the coming months, hopefully some that will actually sell well, not like the One M9. Stay tuned for more on this one.
